If that is the case, then yes you are probably right. I hadn't heard that.

Hopefully that doesn't decrease the chances of a Stagecoach BD....

    I say we get:
    AK100
    Che DVD/Bluray
    Gimme Shelter Bluray
    Stagecoach DVD

    outside chance:
Cronos DVD/Bluray (I think this'll be a first week of January release)

I thoroughly expect them to go DVD only on Stagecoach which causes everyone else to go, WTF was the goddamned point of releasing it then?

No titles announced yet, but this was on the Criterion Facebook:
"Person: is putting in a plug for the upcoming Stagecoach disc to be offered in Blu-ray. I know that economics dictate that you can't release everything in Blu, but c'mon...it's STAGECOACH!"
    CC: You said it!"

Also, someone asked about Fellini on Blu, and they said they plan to annonce at least one of his titles for BD in a month or so. As a betting man, one has to think 8½ or Amarcord. Most likely 8½ to cross promote with the new film Nine.

I was hoping against a BD release right now to save me a bit of cash. However, this means me hunting down a multi-region BD player. Oh, well as the man said, it's Stagecoach.

You can always buy it a few months after it's released, you know. /img/vbsmilies/htf/tongue.gif
(I just got around to picking up The Seventh Seal this week).

This is a good sign. To add a Blu-ray to the schedule when it had not been originally announced with one must mean that BDs are doing well for them. That's more releases in the October-December 1st schedule with Blu-ray (5 - Wings of Desire, Monsoon Wedding, Howard's End, A Christmas Tale, Gomorrah) than without (3 - Z, Downhill Racer, Golden Age of Television).

I'd be really excited if they were adding Z to the bluray schedule as well.

As would I, but I think that's fairly unlikely at this point since it streets in 6 weeks.

However, now that all of October's releases have been pushed into November according to Criterion's site, we have 4 titles for November and none in October.

Not according to Criterion's site now. Monsoon Wedding now has a release date of November 20th. All October titles have been pushed into November.
EDIT: Thinking about it, though, the date of November 20th doesn't fall on a Tuesday, obviously, Criterion could have accidentally put in November instead of October.

well the two SD releases have not been pushed, the Eclipse and Z. I wonder if it has to due with Bluray replication or check discs that didn't pass muster and the general QC process.

I'm betting it has to do with BD replication lines being slammed for the next 8-10 weeks.

The December titles (aside from the BD upgrade to Gimme Shelter) might be late in getting announced for this very reason. The date they had planned only a few days ago may have been pushed.

Here's a quick Criterion-related question, perhaps you guys can help me, I'm just thinking of getting a region free player, so I can indulge in Region A (i'm from Australia) Criterion titles.

They're all priced at $25 at the moment. As far as I've heard they're all top shelf releases, but are there any you guys prize over the others?

I'm tossing up between The Third Man (which I've seen and love) and Chungking express and Pierrot le Fou (both of which i've never seen, but thinking of blind buying)

What do you peoples think my first puchase should be?
