Anyone use any of the CPX series of Crest amps? I have a chance to get one of them or the Pro4801 series.. Anyone use either or have an opinion on them? I wonder if 2200w is too much for my BDP1803.. I know the sub is rated at 1000w but it is nice to have a little headroom..

What do you currently have on the BDP, and how close to xmax do you recon it gets?

  3. I have personally seen the 1503 playing 14hz sinewaves for a respectable amount of time. You could feel the dust cap getting warm[IMG]
The 1000watts is an RMS rating, so 2000 should be fine if we are talking about transient peaks=)
1000watts simulated in 400L tuned to 18hz looks rather nice. how dows 118db anochaic sound=)
with 2000watts, simulated, you exceed x-max, but if you were to properly take into account thermal compression and BL losses, you should be perfectly fine as long as you aren't driving it continuously with 2000watts=)

thanks for the response guys.. Currently, I have the Mackie FR1400 bridged running 1400watts to it.. I read a post somewhere that a 700watt or so Crest outperformed the bigger Mackie amp than I have (FR2600) so Im thinking maybe Im missing something with the Mackie..[IMG]
