Not quite sure what to think of this. I'm intrigued by Sam Raimi's involvement, but the trailers kind of look like a generic SyFy-type of creature feature.

Alligator/croc-themed films don't seem to do very well at the box office. I think the highest grossing title is Lake Placid at $31m domestic ($56m worldwide).

Alexander Aja is enough to get me to check it out but the trailer didn't exactly get me interested. On the plus side, the movie is 87 minutes. A killer alligator movie doesn't need to run 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Lake Placid was a very good, IMHO, movie. Make a good movie and the audience will come.

Well, got my ticket for tomorrow night. I'm hoping for something fun like The Meg. The trailers haven't wow'ed me, but hey...I'm not expecting this to be an Oscar contender.

There's a fair amount of blood and lots of people do get attacked by gators. I didn't think any of it was over the top or inappropriate. A few shots of gator bites on human flesh and that sort of thing.

I went into Crawl thinking there were two ways it could go: super excellent and terrible. It's neither of those. It's fine, it's decently fun for about half the run time. It doesn't overstay it's welcome or make the characters do impossibly stupid things. Very compact storytelling reminding me of A Quiet Place--nowhere as good though.

What I appreciated is that the story didn't try to drag out what the menace was for 45 minutes. We get introduced to the gator fairly quickly. The two leads are more or less logical through the film. And then when it's over, it cuts right to black and that's it. An economical horror movie.

I had a big problem with a storm sewer being open to a lake and running directly into the crawl space under the house. That doesn't make any sense to me, especially in Florida. It's at that point I started to check out and tick off the things I knew had to happen for the rest of the film.

I think it's gorier than you imply. It's not ridiculously graphic but it's "R" for a good reason!

How bad it is can be subjective. I felt Starship Troopers had graphic but was so over the top, I wasn’t frightened. Psycho, however, with little gore, was terrifying.

Not looking at the impact of the gore - just stating that "Crawl" had some pretty graphic moments.

Disappointing movie - snooze-fest, IMO. No tension or scares!

Fair. It is totally subjective. People do get eaten, there is blood, we see fairly gruesome open wounds. I'm not in the R camp, but not going to argue the point either.
