I've never seen it either. Hopefully, it will be a good movie to go out on for awhile. I'll see it at lunch tomorrow.
Frankly, I was disappointed in Eddie's comments for a reason that is an obvious omission on his part. I know he doesn't like to talk about the actors much, but damn.View attachment 177201
The final "Noir Alley" movie until the month of May is "Hunt the Man Down" (1950). I have never seen this movie. It stars Gig Young, Cleo Moore, James Anderson and Mary Anderson in the cast. Interesting that acting siblings James and Mary Anderson appear together in this movie. James Anderson's most famous role was the "evil" Bob Ewell in "To Kill a Mockingbird" and Mary Anderson is best known as the young nurse in Hitchcock's "Lifeboat".

To not mention the Andersons were siblings is unforgivable. It’s the only movie they appeared together. It was a nifty little mystery with not a wasted moment and a gallery of interesting characters. The cast, apart from Gig Young, was made up of a lot of familiar faces you've seen in a hundred films and TV shows, and I'll bet they all had interesting backstories. I, too, could have heard twice as much on them as we got.
The moment they started playing "Wishing" I realized I'd seen the film. Watched it again. Short and sweet. And yes, Eddie should have mentioned the Andersons' relationship. I was waiting for that tidbit. To not mention the Andersons were siblings is unforgivable. It’s the only movie they appeared together.
Three of the true jocks of Hollywood in that era.
One of the very few photos I've seen where Burt Lancaster is wearing glasses. At a young age too. I had no idea.
I know Shaft is seen as "just" a blaxploitation picture but I think there's pretty clearly a talented hand behind the camera. The Learning Tree, while much lesser seen, is a good movie too.Have a look at this young couple shopping for books in Paris, 1959. Photo was taken by photographer Gordon Parks that would go on to being a fine film director.

The man had an interesting life with many different experiences. I applaud him for being such an extraordinary individual. By the way, The Learning Tree was kind of autobiographical.I know Shaft is seen as "just" a blaxploitation picture but I think there's pretty clearly a talented hand behind the camera. The Learning Tree, while much lesser seen, is a good movie too.
I was debating whether to purchase it, but I have the Criterion Blu-ray.Borzage's1948 Moonrise on sale for $4.99 on iTunes. One of Scorcese's Republic Rediscovered films - restored and remastered by Paramount
