Interesting article, thanks for the link. I have Prime and Netflix with a fast internet connection so no problems streaming. I find streaming to be a different experience from selecting and playing a disc, as streaming is just entertainment whilst having a disc collection is a hobby. Similarly it is a different experience watching a film on a panel to projecting one.

I know very little about this week's Noir Alley selection "Cash on Demand" (1961) starring Peter Cushing and Andre Morell. This will be my first viewing of this Brit crime drama. Anybody from across the pond have anything to say about this movie?

TBH, from my perspective, my digital library is becoming a hobby to me just like my disc library.

I think he meant streaming from Netflix or Prime is more akin to watching old network TV for entertainment.

I saw this film when it first came out and I have it now on DVD. It's a good suspense film and well worth watching. Andre Morell and Peter Cushing play characters very different from the ones they more frequently played which adds to the interest.

Can any Noir Alley watcher identify which occasional film noir actor this is the daughter of?

Or like me he can read the name of the model on the pic you posted and make more than an educated guess. :)

I think it’s a terrific little suspense/caper picture, and perfect Christmas viewing. Cushing and Morell are superb.

Cash On Demand. Great little play. So enjoyable to see Cushing and Morell working against each other again. And the ending, so British uncompromising and not American cliche studios, which makes it that much more delicious.

    I really enjoyed the movie,
but I thought the ending was a wee bit sentimental. Would a criminal, even as dashing as Andre Morell, have had pity on his victim and let him off the hook.
I'm not sure about that, but maybe I'm just a product of today's more cynical sensibilities.

I've never seen next week's movie either, so another to look forward to before I head out of town for New Year's.

It's only implied that he's letting him off the hook; the bottom line is the authorities are dragging Cushing off to jail for their own interpretation of events.
And Morrel stays consistent, per Muller, with his charming character throwing you off who you should be rooting for.

Good point especially a movie that not many of us have ever seen until the last 24 hours or so.

I'll post my comments about the movie later on.

I thoroughly enjoyed Cash On Demand. As often as not, I forget to record Noir Alley so I'm glad I remembered this week.
