I think he spends too much time on the writers as it's my opinion that people would want to hear more about the cast or filmmakers.

I watched the following "B" film from Republic on iTunes today in HD digital. It was different seeing a young Lee Van Cleef playing police detective.:)

    Accused of Murder (1956)

David Brian, Vera Ralston, Sidney Blackmer, Virginia Grey

    Director: Joseph Kane

When a gangland lawyer is murdered, there are two suspects: a beautiful nightclub singer and a hood named Stan, who has been hired by an underworld boss to assassinate him. House director Joseph Kane adapts the Republic crime film formula to the era of color and widescreen, employing Republic’s anamorphic “Naturama” process to intensify this thriller.

I may have checked it out, but we have other plans during the time it's here. Of course, it would have been a lot easier trip for me -- Redford is less than 30 minutes from me.

It's close to a 90 minute trip for me and I don't feel like driving home late at night which means a couple of overnight stays at a hotel.

Man, that Adrian Martin commentary on "The Big Clock" was full of information as to differences between the book and movie, but it was dry as hell. I love Eddie Muller's commentaries because he gives you more than information. His personality and sense of humor are injected into his commentary as well as his opinion on what in the film he liked or disliked. Like plot points or the production code that he thought were silly or weaken the film.

On Tuesday I watched the following at my local cinema in a Dolby Atmos theater. It was on par with chapter one, but too long at about 170 minutes. It could easily have 20 minutes trimmed without affecting the quality of the film. I did laugh quite a bit during the entire movie. Maybe, jumped a couple of times.

Looks like Disney and AT&T are in a major dispute that might remove Disney channels from DirecTV. These media companies and distributors are just cutting each other's throats with the consumers in the middle of their corporate greed and shrinking profitability as people continue to cut the cord because of price hikes and having all of these streaming choices being made available to the consumer base. If I lose the ESPN channels during football season, I'm going to be one pissed off person.

More about these old Republic titles on sale at iTunes for $4.99 each until September 16th. I bought several of these titles as I have all, but one of them on either Blu-ray or HD digital.

I've never viewed Wagon Master, but Clark's review kind of sparked my interest. Not sure I'll pick it up, too many other things to watch, but I'll keep it in mind.

After finally watching the 2009 WA DVD release of "The Moonlighter" (1953), I really wish we could watch this mediocre western in 3-D. Not a good film with some awful dialogue, but I was relatively entertained by the film because of its lead actors. Watching Stanwyck and MacMurray together again in a movie makes me want to watch "There's Always Tomorrow" (1956) again that was made three years after "The Moonlighter".

It's a fine western Walter with Ward Bond playing a different character in it than he did in "The Moonlighter".:)

I like There's Always Tomorrow a lot. I have it on a very good DVD but it'll probably come out on Blu-ray disc at some stage. Fred MacMurray, as always, is superb, this time playing a business man who is taken for granted by his rather self-absorbed family.

One of Sirk's best films. Unfortunately, the DVD I have is flat Academy ratio; the film is 1.85 and TCM shows it that way. The leads and Joan Bennett are outstanding.

Doubts about watching a John Ford Western? Even his weaker ones are worth a watch, and this is not one of the weaker ones.

I ended up buying City That Never Sleeps and Johnny Guitar. I have never owned either film in any home video format. Yesterday we finished watching the FX series Feud: Bette and Joan, so the Johnny Guitar purchase was probably a subliminal reaction. ;)
