I've finally decided to drop the whopping $150 bucks for the Cowboy Bebop boxset but I checked DVDEmpire and DVDExpress and neither one sells it. Anyone have any suggestions on where to look? Is this boxset not being sold any more? I really want the boxset for the soundtrack because I just love the music in this series [IMG]
Any help would be appreciated =)

It was a limited run that sold pretty quick. I happened to buy the DVDs before the Box and was lucky enough to pickup an empty box for them but they ended up being more limited than the full set. If you really want it, then eBay may be one of the few places that'll have it.

As Mike said, the boxset was a limited run deal. The only place I've seen them recently is eBay and Suncoast. You can still get the individual discs and it's been rumored that they will be redone in DTS as some kind of SE's.
If it's the soundtrack you're after I picked up a copy of each soundtrack from http://www.cdjapan.co.jp they were very reliable. You can also get them here http://www.animecornerstore.com/cowboybebop.html a place I've found to be very good. Both places carry the real deal and not the bootleds you see all over some places.
The CD in the boxset is soundtrack 1.

It's not rumored that they will be redone in DTS, this is just a US pressing of the Japanese "Fan Favorite" discs (6 eps) but no full series sets will be redone.

Also, note that the individual DVDs you can get in stores quite handily are the exact same discs (and covers, for that matter) that you'd find in the box.

I also missed the boat on that one. I've owned the individual discs ever since they were first released, and I desperately wanted the boxset and soundtrack to go along with them. But of course, I was flat broke during the whole limited run, and now have to go the overpriced eBay route...[IMG]

Joe, Joe, Joe, what am I gonna do with you?
I had an empty box and I sold it on ebay.
You can buy the reissue soundtrack (all 4 of them), imported from Japan. Cost of all 4 CDs (which includes never before heard tracks) is 9800 Yen, which is a steal, compared to paying 12000 Yen for 4 separate CDs. This is limited edition run only. So get it while it's hot. [IMG]

I have this box, and it is not just a soundtrack collection. It is a new collection of music mixed in with dialogue from the show. A lot of the tracks (most of them?) are alternate versions of the ones on the original soundtracks. This covers three of the four discs. The fourth disc is a live recording of the Seatbelts and then some tracks from the movie that did not make the movie soundtrack.

It is a cool box with great packaging. It is not a reissue of the original discs.

    Bummer news =(

Thanks for the info all. I hope they will consider re-releasing the boxset. I suppose I will just have to buy each disc separately.

No, they will not re-release the box set. It's a licensing thing. It was hard enough to negotiate then at all

Speaking of Cowboy Bebop, does anyone know if or when the movie will be released on DVD?

I just got into this series and I really dig it so far.

The movie may be doing a small theatrical run this fall, I expect the DVD sometime early 2003

Or you can use DVD-Subber on an HTPC and buy it from Japan right now

    Kong,

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you sell your box for on eBay? I have the box set, and am not all that attached to the box and the cd.

    Thanks, Gabe

    Gabe:

I got it for about $65 for the box only (no cd) on ebay. But, if you want to be a semeritan (sp?), you can sell yours to Joe for a good price.
