I would really, really hope this has the theatrical cut. I'm not a big fan of the Colonel West unmasking scene that came straight from a Scooby Doo episode.
Seconded. The extra scenes add nothing to the movie.

According to imdb.com Kim Cattrall, after shooting had wrapped one evening, posed for some nude pictures on the bridge set.

Think there's any chance they'll show up as an extra?:rolleyes

The theatrical version of Star Trek VI was never shown on HBO, just the extended version. I remember seeing the theatrical cut, however, on NBC and the USA Network during its televised runs.

It will be nice to get this and have it sit with the rest of the Star Trek SE's on the bookshelf--- I'm all done after this one -- as I was never a fan of the Next Generation movies.

They do not exist. The negative has been destroyed. The story is that Leonard Nimoy was furious and ordered them to be destroyed. Too bad, I've never seen a naked Vulcan (she was in full make-up reportedly).

That's too bad, Neil. What would give Nimoy the right to have those photos destroyed given a) he didn't direct the film, and b) he's photographed nude women, himself (see his book Shekhina) ?

The only thing that bothers me is that all of these are done in a silver color border on the cover EXCEPT the The Motion Picture. It looks completely silly next to the rest of these on my shelf. Just my opinion!

I think Nimoy was an Executive Producer on Trek 6, so he's still got more authority on the set than most. Also, why upset a guy who probably knows a lot of people (and, likely, a major studio) when you're likely going to be looking for work again the next week?

You think that looks silly. Look at the Trek: The Original Crew Movies Collection posted at DVD Answers.

You would think they would at least change the TMP border colour for the box set where all the films are being sold together, wouldn't you? Apparently not.

Interesting though that they're calling this a "Special Collector's Edition." I have no problems with the extended cut (probably in good part because it's the only version I've ever seen) but I would have thought that with a different cut of the movie, this would have been "Star Trek VI: The Director's Edition" similar to TWoK.

As for the different spine color, I guess it's golden because it's the first, and the ones that follow are "merely" silver. I agree that consistency would be better, but oh well.

On Nimoy, I believe that he was taking the role of protecting the Franchise and keeping it's reputation in the highest level possible. He did what he had to do, I don't blame him.

And Nimoy's book is his vision and art, totally disconnected from Star Trek.

There is a very interesting interview with Nimoy at trekweb by the way.

Read it here

Hey I wasn't doubting the artistic merit of the book but I do find it slightly hypocritical to damn nudity in one form (presumably because it might tarnish the reputation of his bread & butter) and praise it in another (equally controversial as it deals with some religious aspects), one man's art is another man's filth but with some clear distinctions it isn't up to any one man to say which is which.

...OK let's not get into that conversation, all I'm saying is that it is strange to me for a man to condemn it in one form and offer it up in another, after all I seriously doubt the photos that Kim took were horribly pornographic in in nature..just skin I would think and presumably no worse than the pictures I have seen from Nimoy's book.

Sorry, I won't continue straying so far from topic..it was just an observation I made with tongue in cheek.
No more straying from me in this thread.

I agree. It's almost as if they changed their mind on the color (to silver) after the first movie.
