I just walked into Costco and paid my $45 and that was it.

Make sure to get an "Executive Membership". It's a couple of dollars more, but entitles you to some fantastic offers on things like insurance, long distance and internet, check printing, business services, car buying, travel, financing rates, etc. Plus, you get a 2% rebate of total purchases at the end of the year.
