Can't wait for A Night at the Opera to come out
Sounds interesting. Speaking of A Night At The Opera, anyone have the DCC gold CD release? Just wondering how it is versus the standard release.
NP: Moulin Rouge OST Vol. 1
when's the night at the opera dvd-a coming out?
I haven't heard the MFSL, but the DCC *obliterates* the standard Hollywood CD. Plus, it actually reproduces the original embossed LP cover on the booklet, which is a little touch but infinitely cool.
Since I tend to like the "Steve Hoffman sound," I doubt I'd like the MFSL better, but who knows.
The stereo DVD-A track might threaten the DCC, but it's not at all certain since the talent of the remastering engineer and the quality of the tapes used would play a big part. If the stereo track is playable on DVD-V players (as was originally the case before the re-do and delay) I might pick it up to compare, but I'm really happy with the DCC.
Interesting that the article never mentions DVD-A, only DTS.
The DTS DVD-A street date for "A Night At The Opera" is definite: They're advertising it as such on the back cover of the latest "Widescreen Review" issue with the "Training Day" Denzel Washington front cover photo.
The specs also include a DVD-Video layer with the original stereo mix in 96k/24-bit pcm, playable on all standalone and DVD-ROM hardware!
The street date for A Night at the Opera in Canada atleast appears to be May 7, for $34.78CDN at www.cnl.com .
Gonna bump this cause the link still works and the article is good(but too short)
It's pretty cool when Roy Thomas Baker says he'd like to do The Cars debut album in 5.1. That would sound good.
Great to see a legendary producer getting in the 5.1 groove!
