I have a regular digi cable box in my den.

For connection, which is best, RF cable to cable box, then L/R audio to reciever, then RF to TV.

    OR

RF cable to cable box, then L/R audio to reciever, then composite video to TV

I can't tell the difference using the eyeball method but I assume one has to be better.
All cables are generic cheapo radio shack types since this is just in my den.

Forgot to mention that the cable box has no S-vid or Comp Vid connections. Thanks.

You probably won't be able to tell much of a difference, but the second option should result in a better picture.
