Connecting speaker wire with JBL S38? (1 Viewer)

What's the best way to hook up speaker wire with the JBL S38's? Should one unscrew the connector and place the speaker wire directly through the hole and tighten with the connector screw OR thread the speaker wire through the hole in the connector screw itself and have the wire come through one side of the whole on the speaker and tighten the connector screw?
