connecting receiver to reciever (1 Viewer)

I have an old pioneer pro-logic reciever.I am thinking of connecting it to my sony reciever by using the preouts on my sony(front L/R) going into the pioneer through the CD inputs.I want to use the pioneer to drive my fronts to lessen the burden on the sony.Would this work?

Yes, this would work. You now, however, have 2 volume controls in the L/R path, so you would want to set the Pioneer's vol. control to a fixed position. Also, you may encounter a hum problem, which can be solved.
