Hi everyone, just wondering how I can connect my laptop to my denon 3802 receiver so I can hear my mp3s in stereo. Thanks.:)

Go to Radio Shack and buy the following:
  • Stereo mini to dual male RCA cord
  • 2 female inline RCA couplers
  • A long enough RCA interconnect to reach your receiver
Plug the stereo mini into the line out from your laptop and use to couplers to hook up the RCA interconnect. Voila!

RS also sells female RCA to stereo mini-jack adaptors. The ones I have are one solid unit, not cable assemblies. This eliminates the need for the female-to-female RCA adaptors.

Either connection method works fine, though.

You might want to make sure your Laptop's sound card is up to scratch, however. I have a Thinkpad and wouldn't think about connecting it to my receiver - the sound would be abysmal.

Maybe when i get a desktop with a good (SB Live?) soundcard.

Oh, and remember not to turn up the volume on the laptop to more than 50%. Better to run Winamp at 100% and the Windows volume control at as low as possible.
