I'm headed out on a long road trip in a couple weeks. (Vegas baby, Vegas!) A friend has a portable DVD player that will come along on the trip. He says the audio from the player isn't too great. I'm curious if there is a way to connect the player to the car audio, so that we could get better sound. I believe that the car has a tape deck, but I'm not sure.

Matt, if it has a headphone jack get the cd adaptor which allows you to play from a portable cd player through the car's cassette. We have a laptop computer with a DVD drive and the kids always take movies with them on trips; they can either listen through their headphones (we have a simple splitter) if I and their mother don't want to listen to the movie, or they can play it through the car's cassette using the adapter. The sound is quite good through the car's stereo.

You might have to EQ a bit to get rid of some hiss.
