Confusing info on Marantz 18EX--192 or 96 kHz DACs? (How important is that?)

I got a B-stock Marantz 18EX from Cambridge Soundworks, last one they had. All the literature I found on Marantz website specifies 18EX as having 192kHz/24-bit decoding. However, the manual that came with my unit lists "96 kHz/ 24 bit decoding for highest possible fidelity and bandwidth, and high-resolution playback of 96 kHz/24 bit PCM audio sources." I'm confused.. what should I trust?! Have they made a modification to 18EX on the way, without renaming it, and I got an old model? I can't figure out HOW old, since there's no manufacturing date anywhere on it, just some cryptic number on the rear...

How important is the difference between 192 and 96? I was also considering a new 8200 receiver vs. this one...

    Thanks.

Called Marantz and the tech. representative was just as confused as I was... said it shouldn't be the case, but didn't really sound convincing...

    Anyone?
