As a follow up I called the people at CDN show productions and if you wait to go to the show to get in the tickets are $10 each... so you may as well mail in and get them 2 for 10$ or if you are in Whitby or out east pick them up just call ahead of time and you can can them up!
good luck hope to see you at the show!

Brent, I talked to a lady at the posted phone number and they will sell directly (as opposed to by mail) you should call in advance to make sure they are there though...
I don't think they mind if you pick up extra's you might want to ask though...

Miles, Brent,
I don't know if it'll be like that this year, but each of the past 2 years, they put a very small add in the Toronto Star for about the 2 weeks before the show. Bring in the add, and 2 can enter for the price of one.
Here's the current list, if you want to come, and your name's not on, post a message, and I'll add it:
Wayne Murphy
Joel M.
Norm Lalonde
Brentl
Elliott Willschick
Massimo N
AndyVX
Walter Feddern
Ryan Peddle
Karen Maraj
Jake
Craig A
FrankD
Aaron Reynolds
Andrew Walsh
Eric Strong ???
Still waiting on Eric Strong to drop by and grace us with his presence. :)
As for rides. Wayne has a minivan, so he will be able to give a few people a drive up to Orangeville, but getting back is the problem. I also drive an Intrepid, and can fit 4 other people.
The show we are going to has been called The Inner Ear Show until now. They are now calling the show, "The Home Entertainment Show".

Although this would be something I'd love to attend, I'm just writing because Norm's last name jumped out at me...
Norm, are you related to Newsy Lalonde? Just curious...

Joel,
I assume you're speaking about Edward "Newsie" Lalonde? The hockey and lacrosse star of the early 20th century?
No, unfortunately, we have different ancestral lines. It would have been pretty cool though. :)
We're both descendents of the same man though, Jean de Lalonde who first came to Canada in 1665.

I guess we should try to figure out where to meet at the show. Has anyone been to the Holiday Inn? Is there a good place where we can all meet and introduce ourselves?
We also need to figure out what to do for lunch. Do we eat at the hotel? Somewhere else?

If anyone is interested, there is a 2-for-1 coupon in the Saturday Star today for the "Home Entertainment Show" on Oct 19-21. It's on page A10 and it's the Brack ad on the left side.

As I have next Saturday off I maybe interested once I know exact details of the day. Let me know. Anyone coming out of Hamilton/Burlington/Oakville area I could meet and we could commute.

Wow, I had almost forgot about this meet, as I have not checked the HTF Meets section of this board in a while. Whew, lucky I checked it out today, because the meet is next Saturday.
Just one question, am I able to buy tickets at the door to the show? (If this has been answered already in the thread, don't bother answering, I'll just read the above posts after I'm done posting)

Kevin, the day will go more or less this way:
Meet at the downtown Toronto Holiday Inn between 9:30 and 10 am. Attend the Home Entertainment Show (previously known as the Inner Ear Show) from 10 am to about 1 or 2 pm.
Either eat lunch in Toronto or head up to Orangeville and eat lunch there. Go to my home and Wayne Murphy's home and continue the day there. Wayne lives about four houses away from mine.
The highlites of each home are:
My home will feature Hi-Def and Progressive Scan on a 40" HDTV.
Wayne's home will be a big screen with his Zenith front projector, and better sound with bigger speakers.
As to what we do at the homes is up for discussion. We can deffinately do a progressive vs interlaced comparison. We'll watch a movie in Hi-Def probably after dinner. (8pm or so). We'll have discussions about home theater hardware and software. I'll show you all my plans for a dedicated home theater in my basement. And more...
Andy, you can buy tickets at the door. They are $10 each.
