Related to my other post on equipment recommendations...

I have a Bose Acoustimass 10 ser. III, but with the size of the powered Acoustimass module, it cannot be hidden. The wires to the module are special on the one end too, so the wad of wires is hard to hide. We are in a new house, and my bachelor pad layout with this thing sitting out in the open are no longer acceptable to my wife...

Can anyone confirm: if I simply attached Acoustimass 10 speakers to my AV receiver, skipping the module, will it damage them? I've read some opinions this is the case. (The real question here is: is this Bose system an all or nothing system: use it all, or not at all? I was hoping to salvage something from it, but think it might be best served sold on Craigslist and cash towards a new setup).

Thank you,
Derek

Check the impedance of the speakers with an ohm meter. If it reads ~8 ohms, you can use the speakers with a common AVR.

They'll probably be unlistenable without the significant eq the module does.
