For those that don't know, Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor joined up with Dave Stewart to put together a concert in South Africa to raise awareness of the horrible AIDS situation in Africa. A concert was originally to have gone on many many months ago but sponsorship deals fell through. But Queen and Stewart commited themselves to helping out and the "Concert for Staying Alive" is being held TODAY, Nov. 29th.

I believe you *should* be able to check the show at the web site, www.46664.com.

Performers include Bono and The Edge, Beyonce, Queen and more.

A CD and DVD will be released, the CD containing brand new songs (3 by Queen!!!!) and the DVD will be of the concert. Not sure of the exact release dates for those two but either 46664.com or www.queenonline.com should mention it.

Also, an edited version of the concert will be broadcast in America on world AIDS day, Dec. 1st. MTV will air it at 6pm eastern and VH1 will air it at 10pm eastern.

All the money raised from the CD and DVD sales will go towards fighting AIDS in Africa.

Thanks for the notice, understand Ladysmith Black Mambazo (sp?) is also involved, and Peter Gabriel; is Annie Lennox also there? Should make a good DVD

I don't know what 46664 represents, but I saw Nelson Mandela wearing a shirt with that on it?

I've recently heard that the HIV infection rate in some of the southern African countries is close to 25%, which is staggeringly high.

Have to hope this concert raises awareness and stimulates more action.

PS, should have looked at the site first, the number was Mandela's number in prison.

Had the webcast running the entire four and a half hours, but didn't watch the whole thing. I saw songs from Queen, U2, Peter Gabriel, and the Eurythmics. The duet with Peter Gabriel and Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) was pretty cool.

I had been thinking about Cat Stevens a few days before I heard of this, and wondering about reaquiring some of his older work.

But to see him with Peter Gabriel would be great, to see where his journey has taken him. I thought he had given up music when he converted to Islam.

There would be absolutely NO reason to edit anything from this concert due to rights issues like Live Aid. I wanna own on dvd every second with Roger Taylor and Brian May on stage. Thanks for posting the setlist, Mike!

This was brodcast last nite on MTV and only ran 1hr & 40min, I taped it before going to bed. The numbers 46664 was assigned to Nelson Mandela when he was in prison. I heard him mention it during the introduction. I would also like to see the complete concert!!!
