Component Upconversion (1 Viewer)

Is there a real benefit of Component Upconversion in a receiver? I'm going to be running component video from my xbox into whatever receiver I end up with and out to my tv; but will not having this feature hinder non-component video sources? Thanks.

It is just a convienience. It will not improve the quality of lower quality sources. But it is nice only having 1 wire running to the TV and not having to change channels.

It is nice if your tv doesn't include a good scaling chip like the old sva units.
