Okay, after advice from several friends(self-admitted av specialists) I am still having some quality issues with my setup. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help more. Two issues, both seem to generate from RCA sat receiver. First, slightly granulated picture on TV. Second, not very crisp sound through receiver...wavers in and out with some background feedback. Here is my setup:
Hitachi 32uxd10s HDTV monitor, Toshiba 3750 DVD, Pioneer VSX811 receiver, Sony SLVN55 VCR, RCA 430RG DirecTV receiver and JBL SCS150 speaker system. Component video from DVD directly to TV with opital audio to avr. S-video from Sat Receiver to TV and audio from Sat Receiver to TV to avr. Vcr a/v to avr with video out to TV. Does this sound right? Whats a better setup or one that will at least maybe resolve TV picture issue from Sat...or do I have a cheap Sat receiver?

Thanks!!!!

Dale,
It sounds like the way you have it set up the TV needs to change channels or inputs for each source. That is fine because you are using the best connection for each device.
The first thing I would try on the video end is connect the s-vid directly to the TV. Eliminating the AVR means one less step for the video to go through.

The audio issue may be resolved by not routing the audio through the TV. Run it directly to the AVR.

Good Luck,
Bill

Edit:
Read your post wrong about s-vid. (Realized it is hooked directly). Try another s-vid input on TV (If available) or try another cable.

Thanks Bill. I did try another s-vid input and no difference. I also sent audio to avr and no change there either. All brand new cables too! I guess I have a cheap Sat receiver!
