Will older games like "Thief" or "Quake" install and run properly on a computer with a Windows XP OS? I'd like to re-purchase some of those old classics, but I want to be sure they will run. Tks for any help. Dave

Some of them will, some of them won't. In general, if it's written for Windows, rather than DOS, it'll work fine.

XP lets you set a few compatibility options for these programs; let Google be your guide.

For even older DOS games that don't run properly due to computers being so damn fast, try http://dosbox.sourceforge.net for some goodness.
