I hope they give a free copy to everyone who makes a 50 dollar donation
It’s not a $50 donation - it’s a reward for the $50 level. Essentially they’re asking people to preorder and if they get enough orders, they’ll be able to restore the shorts and make the sets, and if they don’t, then they won’t.

Smaller labels have lots of problems with people expressing interest in titles and then not following through on purchasing when they’re released. This is a great way to get people to commit to making the purchase so that the label can have the necessary funds in hand to complete the work.

Actually, ClassicFlix will still release these regardless. If the crowdfunding is successful, CF will be able to put the first shorts out faster and in less volumes. So what you're doing with your contribution is help expedite the work and release.

True, we fully expect to release all the sound shorts, but as Josh mentioned, backer support does convey monetary interest which goes a long way toward letting us know how to invest our capital. Additionally, as you mentioned Thad, if we are able to raise the $70K, it will

1) give them the best possible restoration
2) make sure we preserve them as quickly as possible
3) get the shorts released more quickly on Blu-ray
4) have the price point be less expensive
5) increase the chances of us eventually releasing the silent Rascal shorts -- which is no guarantee if the sound shorts are not well-received.

Also, since we are a small label with limited capital, if the $70K is not raised, all our other projects come to a stand still (including the title Black Magic, 1949), which we were hoping to announce for a Jan/Feb release soon, but we're waiting to see how the campaign goes.

70k is very fair for what you’re trying to achieve. No Fiji water for the colorist?

From The Little Rascals to The Not-So-Little Restores.

I just fully became cabin-fever cognizant to the ClassicFlix drive on this evening of 10/10/20.

a) October 21st will be my day of pledge.

b) “Gee, Miss Crabtree, you smell like a brand-new haircut”.

For clarification, could ClassicFlix please re-post and highlight the deadline date of this fundraiser? :thumbs-up-smiley:
