They're both directed by Bert I. Gordon. Of course, THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN is also directed by Mr. BIG, which would have been the obvious choice. But perhaps there were rights problems. I still have all my old RCA/Columbia/Tri-Star Drive-In VHS releases.

Unfortunately, unlike the 1950s AIP films that are part of the Arkoff Collection, THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN is owned by Susan Hart Hofheinz, former AIP starlet of the mid-1960s (DR. GOLDFOOT & THE BIKINI MACHINE, WAR-GODS OF THE DEEP, GHOST IN THE INVISIBLE BIKINI), and widow of Arkoff's partner James H. Nicholson. She apparently hasn't stuck a deal with any DVD company yet to put the films she controls on the format, so THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN is unavailable to Lion's Gate.

A few of the other AIP flicks that Susan Hart Hofheinz currently controls:

    I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF
    I WAS A TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN
    IT CONQUERED THE WORLD
    INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN
