I read somewhere that these are aimed at the high end DVd consumer (most of us here) so if you want good first week sales you might want to put them off a few weeks.
If they are indeed coming out Oct. 9, then a lot of us will have our DVD money going to the hefty Godfather set that week.
I think Superbit is a great idea and want to get it, but I won't repurchase a movie before getting one of the holy trilogies (SW, Indy, Godfather is the holy trilogy of holy trilogies).
And I don't know about others, but if I miss the first week discounts, sometimes my interest wanes quickly (especially on repurchases).
Just a suggestion.

Or alternatively move the release up to Aug. 28. A lot of people that day will have some extra cash from not buying Willy Wonka.

I would have to agree. This superbit idea would seem better suited to filling in the schedule lull we see in the 1st and 2nd quarters of every year.
It doesn't make sense to me to try this Superbit idea in the middle of October, which is currently the busiest month of the year and has many long awaited titles.
I'll be picking up a few of these SuperBits, but maybe not until early next year.
Regards,
Dan

Do they want this to fail before it even gets started?
Hmmm...
