In this topic, Robert Ringwald brought up an interesting and disturbing point... Despite Columbia House's usual OAR only policy, Matilda received the shaft with a pan & scan transfer. A petition has been started here to get this title re-released in widescreen. I'm reposting the information here for those who didn't see the thread in Software or didn't know what it was about. It is important that films (particularly such a good children's one as this) receive proper OAR treatment... If you are a fan of the film or simply a proponent of OAR please lend your support.
    EDIT: Matilda OAR Re-Release Petition

I support this initiative. Matilda is the only non-oar DVD in my household... and I fought tooth and nail to keep it out. Please let me replace it with a real DVD.

I'm holding on to my Laserdisc until Columbia TriStar issues a wide screen MATILDA on DVD.
