I'm working on a project to improve my Home Theater video connections and I need some HDTV coax cable. I've narrowed it down to RG6 or RG11.

Does anyone have any experience and/or suggestions as to which is the better cable?

I know RG11 has a larger core wire, but that's about all I know.

    Thanks,

    Joel

I recommend GR59 or RG6. Both Belden and Canare premium calbes in these sizes will work and you will not be able to tell any difference in the performance of these sizes in a HT.

    RG6 solid conductor: Belden 1694A; Canare L-5CFB

    RG59 solid conductor: Belden 1505A; Canare L-4CFB

RG6 stranded conductor (more flexible AND more expensive):

    Belden 8281; Canare LG-77S

    RG59 stranded conductor: Belden ?; Canare LV-61S

    Hank,
Just for accuracy and/or lack of confusion, there are several versions of Belden 8281 cable. The stranded stuff is 8281F.
I've got 500' of this stuff in both black and blue!
Just FYI: I'm using these for analog audio cables and dropped a pair off to my local high end dealer for his examination. He felt that they EASILY blew away any of the Monster stuff in the price range that I'm charging for a 1m pair ($45).

Hey, kid Brian - what are you doing horning in on my sale? I was just about to give him my best used car salesman pitch, too.

    Hank,
Would I do that? You don't even have the cable in stock! Anyway, you know I wasn't trying to sell anything. I was merely pointing out the price point at which these cables were being compared.[IMG]
Hank, you wanna buy a couple hundred feet? I can give you a "special" price!

Thanks for the opinions. I picked up 30 feet of Gepco RG11 High Definition SDI video cable for $15. I'll post back and let you know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Joel
