Has anyone heard anything about this movie coming to DVD anytime soon? I've heard it has been released in the UK recently. Who has the rights? Being a country music fan and living in the same county as Ms. Lynn, I would love to have this delightful film ASAP. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, this title is on our must-replace-the-worn-out-VHS list. I'd love a DVD, and I'm sure music clearances can't be the issue, since the songs are all from the same basic source. Get a move on!

Besides the Loretta Lynn music there are songs by Patsy Cline, Earnest Tubb, Bill Monroe (Blue Moon of Kentucky, sung by Levon Helm), and that's just off the top of my head.

Yes; acknowledging that other singers are on there, and perhaps I'm mistaken about this (not being a country/western music afficionado), but aren't all those performers through the same recording studio?
I seem to recall that piece of trivia from the time the film first came out. I might be having a brain fart, tho'.

DVD is still dominated by Action/Adventure & Science Fiction consumers. Look at the best selling DVD's "Star Wars" "Gladiator" "The Mummy"
Music rights are quite expensive and apparently Universal musical films don't sell very well, or more would be released (where's " The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" & "Thoroughly Modern Millie"?)
"Coal Miner's Daughter" has many different artists involved and the cost probably isn't worth it - yet.

I find it damned amazing that Universal hasn't released this as one of their collector's editions yet. One of the strongest of their catalog titles.

I don't even like country music but I love this movie and would buy the DVD in a heartbeat.

I'll add my vote, Universal. I LOVE this movie! It deserves a DVD release.
