Well at least Netflix is lasting much longer than CNN+.

This must be a world-record for the launch and death of a "major" streaming service.

But then again, as noted in the article, Warner Media's incoming partner, Discovery, had plans of killing the service prior to the merger, but were forbidden to share those views with Warner management until after the merger was completed.

Discovery's plans sound like they want to merge everything (HBO Max, Discovery+, CNN+) into one app eventually. It did not help that the launch was pretty much bungled by Warner Media, the two major complaints being the lack of Roku at launch and the unavailability of a live CNN stream and archive of current shows to subscribers unless they had a cable/satellite/IPTV subscription that included CNN (the TV Everywhere curse). At $5.99 per month, the service was overpriced for what it was offering to cord cutters.
