CNET has a great article with advice for anyone looking to buy a new TV. The article is a year old, but still has some very helpful features like a TV-viewing distance guide and a screen-size calculator for viewing Widescreen on 4:3 and vice-versa.

Besides being old, it is also wrong in the "Analog, digital, and HDTV" section. Ignore that part. The rest looks decent enough, but it doesn't explain much of the differences in the technologies much.
