I have a sneaky suspicion that my DVD player has dog hair in it. Considering the layer of fur that is constantly on my carpet (even after vacuuming!), I wouldn't be surprised. Anyway, when playing many DVDs, I get pixilation and sometimes complete disc stoppage.

Question: What is the best way to clean out a DVD player? Could I just open the casing and blow the foreign objects away? Or should this be handled by a team of certified professionals?

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions!

    hi geo -
i often open my components and give them a good dusting with compressed air. i try to do it at least once or twice a year.
it's easy enough to take out the screws that hold the cover on. as long as you're "gentle" in your cleaning and don't aggressively spray critical parts (like the laser assembly) then you should be fine.
obviously, it should go without saying that you should do this while the unit is unplugged.
    go for it...
