Somebody informed a friend and I that these projection TVs have a filter that needs to be cleaned once a month in order to prolong the life of the TV? Is this true? If so, where in the devil would such a thing be located?
We both just ordered Sony WEGAs (KDF-50WE655 and KDF-60XS955).

Thanks!

Just thought I'd run it by ya'll. I hadn't heard of such a thing either but wanted to verify this info. Thanks!

I also have a Panasonic Rear Projection LCD TV 45 inch screen and it does have a filter under the right speaker grill. It is a foam filter that needs to be cleaned once a month. A reminder notice appears on screen and you have to answer yes or no. I bought a small computer vacuum for this purpose and it works very well.

What?

Which model? LC12/13/14?

I swear, no filter on the LC13 and no mention of it in the manual.

Ah, I checked the manual again, this is not user-serviceable in the LC13. If the OSD message appears, you have to call service.
