What are the differences in these players besides the age?
    Which is the best?
    Is the 606 more like a 704 w/o coax?
I am considering these and am confused if there is a difference or not.
    Thanks

If possible I'd go with the 606 (IIRC, it does AC-3 natively - requires a RF demodulator to convert to standard DD bitstream), and its video playback is step below the venerated 704.

Yes, it's playback isn't quite as good as the CLD-D704, but it's not bad at all. My backup player (a D605) is pretty darn good... in fact it took a while before I really started noticing the differences between it and my CLD-99. Of course, my 32" RCA is pretty pathetic so that may have had a lot to do with it. [IMG]
BTW, I'm fairly sure the 604, 605, and 606 are almost identical except they were manufactured in sequential years (94, 95, and 96).
Other info on them can be found here > http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/pioneer1.htm
    Good luck

I've got the 605 and no complaints.
