I have the pioneer cld-704 and love it.

Here's the problem:

Recently, when inserting a two sided disc, if I put side one facing up it will not switch to side 2. I press the 'B' buttone, it starts to flip and then stops.

If I put side 2 facing up, then I can switch and what I have been doing is puting side 2 up, switching to 1 and playing.

Any ideas, please help!

Thanks

Marc

I don't know how many different discs you've tried, or how many times you've tested out the side 1/side 2 phenomenon. But I do know that an LD player has no way of identifying which way you put the disc in. From the player's point of view, there's no difference between side 1 and side 2.

All LDs are two-sided. Even when there's nothing on the second side.

Technically not true. SOme of the early DiscoVision discs were one sided. Also, my brother Ange has a Styper video from the late 80s that has an opaque white plastic side instead of a dummy side. It's one of a kind and a cool LD curiosity.
