Yes, we're doing mostly PD now, but A & C did come from the estate and we did license all 66 Hoppy films.

To find out if a title is under copyright, you have to have a search done on it with people in the know (or go to LOCs site, but I don't believe it's exhaustive or definitive in terms of legalities).

Yes, it's still possible to do business with families and smaller rights holders, but the difficult part is finding out which ones they own and how to contact them.

Not sure about RAMAR.

FYI - Between our RARE TV line, Hoppy and the OUR GANG (Rascals) silents, we currently have enough to keep us busy for the next few years without licensing any new content.

We also have about a half dozen or so other projects for which we already have content scanned, but have yet to start restoration.

Wild Bill Hickok was with William F. Broidy, then sold to Columbia/Screen Gems in 1958, so that would be with Sony. Ramar Of the Jungle was a TPA/ITC property.

Ramar seems to be PD now. I’m pretty sure it was produced by Jon Hall.
William F. Broidy is Guy Madison! He produced the show. At one point, his daughter had a web site devoted to him AND the Wild Bill Hickok Show which she appeared to be very interested in.
I don’t know why she never tried to make a deal to get the program back on TV ( Western Channel?) or out on home video. Is the show PD now?

Wikipedia has Robert Ozell Moseley as Guy Madison's real name. William F. Broidy was an entire different person! Broidy died in 1959, Madison died in 1996!

Jon Hall's company was Arrow Productions on Ramar, with Rudolph Flothow as producer.

So it WAS Hall’s company that produced it . I remember reading an old interview with him where he mentioned that.
It seems like no one renewed the copyrights. Many companies have Ramarreleases , most of which seem to come fro 16mm/ VHS releases that emerged in the eighties.

We're happy to share news today of an upcoming RARE TV release of the 1952 Twilight Zone-esque suspense series THE UNEXEPCTED (1952).

The half-hour series ran one season for a total of 39 episodes. We have scanned the first 13 episodes (all from 16mm) and plan to release them in Volume 1 on DVD early next year.

Many well-known guest stars appear in this rarely seen anthology series including Raymond Burr, Gale Storm, Craig Stevens, Marshall Thompson, Hans Conried, Marie Windsor, Anthony Caruso, Marjorie Reynolds, Jim Davis, Coleen Gray, Dan O'Herlihy, Bobby Driscoll, Kenneth Tobey, John Hoyt, Rochelle Hudson, Paul Guilfoyle, Paula Raymond, Dan Seymour, Lois Collier, Michael Ansara, and many, many more.

Below is a raw scan from an episode entitled "Born Again" starring Billy Halop.

NOTE: Although contemporary press accounts and current websites list Herbert Marshall as the host of this program, his presence is absent from the 16mm prints we've acquired.

Do you plan on doing the complete series?

It will probably take be another 12 - 18 months until Volumes 2 & 3 are released with the last 26 episodes—which we'll only do if the prior volumes sell.

Is it possible the entire series in a complete set could be released at some point? Maybe/maybe not, but if it were it probably wouldn't happen until 2028-29...

This is very good news. I’m glad another Ziv series is getting released. Looking forward to it.

BTW - Another Ziv show I’d love to see is King of Diamonds (from 1961) with Broderick Crawford. Perhaps that might be a good fit for CF someday?

Just not a fan of partial season sets. Will wait to see where it goes. I'm interested , but not to the point of a partial season. I know others don't mind and will buy. Buy for me it's a dealbreaker.

With all due respect to you Frank, you do understand that if we fans (a relatively small community) don't support ClassicFlix with our firm pre-orders for volume one of The Unexpected, we certainly won't get the rest of that series?! Same thing with their forthcoming Angel, their other projects or anything else!

" Will wait to see where it goes" will give us nothing new on disc period.

Wonder if the UNEXPECTED series had any ties to the radio show of the same name.
Probably not.
The radio show was a 15 minute mystery/thriller series that feature such Hollywood talent as Barry Sullivan, Marsha Hunt,
Jack Holt, and Lyle Talbot.

Anyway I am looking to watching this TV series and the upcoming ANGEL.

With all due respect back at you Randall, I have bought more than my share of ClassixFlix products over the years and don't feel compelled to buy products that don't interest me. Reading the above posts from CF doesn't make me believe that future volumes are probable. If they happen i might reconsider.

Nice to see another Ziv show.

I'd love to see Waterfront one day (another Ziv show).
Where do you guys get your information from? Waterfront is a Roland Reed production, like My Little Margie, which is now treated as PD. What I call an orphan show, where the copyrights may have been renewed, but there is no one alive to claim ownership.

Classic is only doing PD Ziv shows. KOD is copyrighted and owned by MGM.

Wikipedia says "Roland Reed Productions, Inc., for the Ziv Company". I called it a day after that. If it's not actually a Ziv show or because of that arrangement it falls into a different category today than something like Sea Hunt, I feel like I at least did my due diligence to at least check before posting.

Some of you need to remember that not everyone has every film and tv show memorized where rights are concerned or where those rights have landed in the decades since. Nor do they have every deal that a studio has struck up memorized for labels like ClassicFlix or Kino Lorber that license content (or utilize public domain content).

Anyways, back to ClassicFlix...
