Best elements are owned by Paramount so it's not likely to happen...

Just trying to making sure of something I’ve heard is true but am not 100% sure of, David: Does Paramount also own Amos and Andy?

And if for some reason they didn’t and you could gain access to it, would it be too nuclear a release for the 21st-century?

Gary “no matter what you guys are able to release in this line, I know I’m going to enjoy it” O.

How about Reed Hadley's earlier series, RACKET SQUAD, 98 episodes from 1951-53 syndicated, then CBS.

David, they don't own this.

David,

Any chance you might be able to acquire the rights to Ben Casey ?
CBS started the release with season one but never completed this endeavor due to a company reorganization and closing of their DVD division.
New owner Paramount, doesn’t seem interested in further releasing any older properties including Ben Casey.
Can’t understand why this show was never fully released.

Actually when Republic's rights to the show expired, Hal Roach Productions was long out of business so they turned over all of the 16s, 35s and negatives to UCLA Archive. Not the easiest place to deal with but they have worked with companies on shows such as Mr. Peepers.

They are responsible to their shareholders to make the most with the resources they have. And because physical media started being less profitable around 15 years ago and continues to decline every year, it doesn't make fiscal sense for them to put the same, or even more effort, to find, scan, restore and release 30 episodes of a classic TV show which may sell 1,000 units as a newer show that might sell 5 - 10K units.

Combine that with many other factors like a shrinking target market (people are involuntarily giving up their ghost), market saturation (no room left to store discs, a large unwatched pile and some people have converted to "streaming only") and (I know this first hand in dealing with some rightsholders) they sometimes have absolutely no idea what properties they have so how can they have interest in something which they don't know they own or have materials too?

RACKET SQUAD is on deposit at UCLA from Paramount and would require Paramount's permission to access. I know, I asked.

FYI - Not sure what other people's dealings are, but we have a good relationship with UCLA and they have been very open to us.

Thanks again for explaining things so clearly, David. I imagine a lot of us don’t take all these factors into consideration when we are presenting our personal wish lists to you and others.

That’s very encouraging news! UCLA has some great material. Heck, I’d love to see you pick up the remaining seasons of Mr. Peepers. S'more was doing great work with that series, but came up short of releasing the whole run.

Hi Gary, Yep I have the first 2 seasons of Mr Peepers, how many seasons were there? And have you see the other Wally Cox series of him as the Adventures of Hiram Holiday?

There were 4 seasons of Mr Peepers in total. And yes, I've seen several episodes of The Adventures of Hiram Holiday.

Gary "of course my favorite Wally Cox starring role with always be, due to childhood nostalgia, Underdog" O. :)

I've always wondered about the status of ZIV TV's "Boston Blackie" series. An entertaining action show with a lot of location work throughout Southern California.
When Timeless Media was putting out ZIV shows like Sea Hunt, Harbor Command, Tombstone Territory and Bat Masterson, I was hoping the Kent Taylor series would b. released.

Another top notch show I'd absolutely love to see released. Boston Blackie has long been a wish list favorite of mine!

Gary "of course anything from ZIV would be a welcomed addition to my collection" O.

I believe Mr Peppers was found at the time in someone's garage, not the best place to store any type of film or tape.

It's with MGM. We checked. If we ever do another deal with them it'll be on our ask list.

Hi David,
Any chance with Bachelor Father, Karen (might be still owned by Universal-why are they holding on to it and no release???) or Happy (only because I like Yvonne Lime :)) Anyway, keep up the great job with the releases. Thanks.
