OH MY! About 40 minuets into the presentation; and I had to hurry and post this, IMO, anyone waiting on this is going to be very, very Happy!!! Imagine the Herculean effort that ClassicFlix applied to the Restorations of The Little Rascals, and you already have an idea of what you are instore for. This is the closest that I have seen to what would have been like during the original release. :D

Kudos to David and all involved at ClassicFlix, in restoring the "somehow" forgotten an otherwise overlooked other title of Mr. Capra that fell into the public domain.

Now that this is presented the way is should have been seen for years, it really is a wonderful life.

I recently watched Blonde Ice and, as an audiophile, I have to say that it was very refreshing to actually hear hiss in a pre-digital production. Speech sounded very clear. It's my opinion that 99.9% of all catalog titles are mastered with way too aggressive noise reduction. I find digital noise reduction to be very distracting, both for music and movies. I often have to go back to laserdisc/VHS era to find reissues where noise reduction is not turned up to eleven.

Many thanks to the audio department at ClassicFlix⭐ 👏

I received Meet John Doe. Even though I have not watched it yet, I did take a little peak at it. It looks amazing. After decades and decades of awful cheapie releases, we finally get a fantastic release. It warms my heart when public domain titles finally get the respect they deserve. Thank you Classic Flix.

Our 2nd Annual Silver Series Sale starts today and only lasts 10 days (until June 20th).

The four BDs in the line are all on sale for $9.98, and, except for International Lady (1941), this is their lowest price to date!

Two Silver Series titles are Going Out of Print

Of the two going out of print, The Complete PRC Michael Shayne Mystery Collection starring Hugh Beaumont in the title role is a must-have for any collector of B-mystery/noir—with 5 films for only $11.98!

Also going OOP is I Met My Love Again (1938) with Joan Bennett lighting up the screen trying to decide between a hesitant Henry Fonda and a charismatic writer played by Alan Marshal. Dame May Whitty, Louise Platt and a young Tim Holt, as a jealous suitor, round out a terrific cast.

Also of note:

-- Out of print since last fall, The Complete Hal Roach Thelma Todd and Patsy Kelly Comedy Collection is now back in print and on sale for only $19.98.
-- We have our lowest price to date on The Complete Hal Roach Streamliners Collection with all 22 films on 4 discs for only $29.98!

Check out this clip we just posted from our restoration of FIRE FIGHTERS (1922), the 2nd silent short produced in the Our Gang film series. Our restoration is sourced from a 2K scan of a 16mm print as 35mm on the short is nonextant.

Roach would re-visit the firemen theme in THE FOURTH ALARM (1926) and HOOK AND LADDER (1932).

Scans on over 60 silent Our Gang shorts (of the surviving 88) have been performed to date and we continue to look for better material for at least half of the 60, plus additional material to fill in gaps of missing footage from the scans we already have.

The project has taken a lot longer than anticipated, but we expect our next release announcement to be for Volume 1 of the Our Gang silents. Included in the set will be:

PROD#, SHORT

# 1. Our Gang - (In most complete form)
# 2. Fire Fighters
# 3. Young Sherlocks (from 16mm Kodascope)
# 4. One Terrible Day
# 6. Saturday Morning
# 7. The Big Show! (from 35mm)
# 8. The Cobbler (from 35mm)
# 9. The Champeen! (from 16mm Kodascope)

ENJOY!

Yes, the Pathe's were released on Kodascope.

Regarding titles we've yet to scan, we haven't acquired/scanned many titles lately as we're focusing on getting VOLUME 1 out for now. However, we did recently scan TIRED BUSINESS MEN and got additional material for LITTLE MOTHER. We have a line on some others, but haven't acquired or scanned them yet. Others we have to search for, but that'll come after VOLUME 1 is out the door...

Hey, Classicflix…

How do you decide which title to restore/release?

Just curious.
Originally we wanted to restore and release them in exact chronological order (based on the production number/date), but that is impossible with many hard to get (not to mention the 5 nonextant) and others in horrible, non-BD-worthy condition, so we decided to release them in production order of shorts, but only for ones which we have access to and which are BD worthy.

Those which are so soft/fuzzy and beat up almost beyond viewability, or which only survive in fragments, we'll save either for bonus features for a future volume or will release them on a supplemental DVD only.
