I am, and have been, trying to find a copy of the Mario Brava classic, "Caltiki: The Immortal Monster" and I think I have, but........it is on a rare VHS/DVD website and the asking price for the used VHS tape is almost 100 bucks!!!! I was surprised to find out that "The Monster from the Piedras Blancas" is listed there too. I have a pristine copy, only been watched twice, and they list it at $150.00!!!!
Seems to me someone said that a crappy version of Caltiki had been released on one of the budget labels (maybe one of those giant Brentwood sets?), but that's obviously of questionable legality.
My want list is huge too: basically everything mentioned in Famous Monsters of Filmland from 1972-1980, that isn't already on DVD
Just want to second (or third) the motion for a release of Tarantula. I think this is probably the best use of an actual, living creature to portray a movie monster.
I mean, I've never seen a convincing lizard portray a dinosaur.
Sinister Cinema sells a DVD of Caltiki. I have a copy. Unfortunately, it's so friggin' dim that the picture is almost invisible. I tried to trade mine in at Blockbuster but it was no-go. Email me if you want more info, [email protected]. You'll have to go through some SpamArrest stuff to get through.
The Village of the Damned/Children of the Damned DVD is out now.
Another vote for Tarantula, one of the most-nearly-perfect 1950 giant spider movies ever made! Most of the rest on the various lists get my vote, too.
WHERE THE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! are "BRIDES OF DRACULA" "CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF" "PHANTOM OF THE OPERA"-1962 "NOT OF THIS EARTH"-1957 "SHE DEVIL"-1957 "NIGHT CREATURES" "SHADOW OF THE CAT" "ATLANTIS, THE LOST CONTINENT" "THE THING THAT COULDN'T DIE" "THE MOLE PEOPLE" "KONGA" "THE MINOTAUR" "REVOLT OF THE SLAVES"
