I was watching him in the HBO series Carnivale. And he has got the presence to play Lex. And it doesn't hurt that he did his voice for the animated Superman series.

After watching Coupling last night, this is now my pick to play Superman:

    Paul Satterfield:

And he's got the height (6'4") and could achieve the build (with training), and pretty much the same type of acting pedigree that Christopher Reeve had when he got the part back in 1977-1978. The only negative is that he's kinda old (43). Doh!

Clancy would definitely be my first choice to play Lex... to me, that voice will *always* be the one I associate with Luthor.

I definitely agree about Paul Satterfield. That guy is the spitting image. He even has the hair in that picture.

I still think they should end Smallville at Season 3 and then get Tom Welling with the tights.

I honestly never thought of Clancy Brown. He's perfect! He even looks good with a bald head(see Highlander).

Well...minus the safety pins on his neck.

I agree that Clancy Brown would be perfect. The voice on the show is just spectacular, and not to mention he also LOOKS the part, at least to me. Ive been saying this idea for years to friends, and we all agree on it.

My pick would be Vincent Donofrio or Thomas Jane for Lex

Well, when Michael Rosenbaum is already owning the role like no actor before him on the small screen, I don't see how anyone else could pull the character off on the big screen.

But have you seen Rosenbaum's big screen output lately?

    Bringing Down The House
    Sorority Boys

Rosenbaum is very good as the small screen version of a young Lex.

To me, Clancy would have more "gravitas" for the role as Lex.

Saying "Clancy Brown would make a good Lex Luthor" is one thing. Saying you don't see how anyone but Rosenbaum could is another. Sure, it's just expressing an opinion, but I think the premise behind it - that just because a certain actor has played a role well, it's impossible to imagine another actor in the role - is needlessly limiting. Certainly, it takes a greater imaginative leap to picture another actor in a role after being exposed to how one person has handled it, but I think it's worth doing.

Besides him being kind of old for the part anyway.
