OUCH, OUCH, OUCH, OUCH.

Walter's selections have met with a full gallery of support, so I'm going with Justin_S--and not because I necessarily needed that excuse to vote for his list, either. On his list, Justin_S sports at least four of the most wondrously-photographed movies ever.

Good stuff, Justin_S. :emoji_thumbsup:

Two great lists, which makes the process extremely difficult. There are a few on Brook's list that I haven't viewed, so perhaps this is a tad unfair, but Rain has more films that I'd like to have on my list - especially in the bottom half of his group of films.

One of my big regrets on my list was not including a film by James Wong Howe, and Rain's inclusion of Seconds gets big points from me. On the other hand, I hate voting against Rebecca, which is my favorite B&W Hitchcock. George Barnes is another cinematographer I wouldn't mind having on my list.

Rain

I agree - this is without a doubt, the toughest-to-vote-in draft yet. Everyone has superb lists. :emoji_thumbsup: :emoji_thumbsup:

Okay, I'll be running one more draft and I decided to go with history-based movies. I ran a History and the Movies tourney some time ago that was popular so it seems like a good subject for a draft. If you're interested, let me know - there will only be eight players, myself included.

BTW, I am at this moment listening to "I Am A Cinematographer" by Palace Brothers.

I am a cinematographer
I am a cinematographer
Oh, I am a cinematographer
Oh, I am a cinematographer

And I walked away from New York City
And I walked away from everything that's good
And I walked away from everything I lean on
Only to find it's made of wood
Made of wood

And I was a big ol' bear once
Oh, I was a big ol' bear once
Oh, I was a big ol' bear once
Oh, I was a big ol' bear once

And I walked away from California
And I walked away from everything that shone
And I walked away from everything I lived for
Only to find that everything had grown
Everything had grown

Now I am a cinematographer
Oh, I am a cinematographer
Oh, I am a cinematographer
Oh, I am a cinematographer

If you were alone
You can walk away from Louisville

Agee, by my count he has one more outstanding pick and none that I've seen that I'm not impressed with, while Walter has both The Piano and The Devil's Backbone that I don't think are anything special.

Well, I guess I should've stuck with the grail picks. I was afraid that The Piano was going to hurt me. Everyone has their opinions, and I certainly disagree with the prevailing notion in this thread regarding that film. ( At least Roger Ebert agrees with me, or is that the other way around? :) )

Hey Steve, you have any of those "got your ass kicked" membership cards laying around? :)

Unfortunately, yes. :frowning: :D

BTW, Walter, I think it was you I was chatting with about Satyajit Ray's Apu Trilogy - well, I just got done watching them (picked up the VHS box set) and all I can say is...wow! I'll be doing write-ups of all three films in the Expanding Horizons thread.

It may also have been Walter. :D

Glad you liked the films.

Anyone with the eclectic wherewithal to know and appreciate Urusevsky's and Figueroa's work is a guaranteed :emoji_thumbsup: from me. :)
