how is polyfill measured? the plans call for 60 oz how much is 60 oz? also my floor is wood underneath carpet. the sub would be in a closet shaped area. it would not be practical to place a concrete slab in the upstairs of my house. the bass energy passes through my entire house as it is. would it be possible to design this sub with a front firing driver and ports?

I usually buy polyfill in 20oz. bags, so just buy 3 of them. You should be able to get them at Wal-Mart.

Pheonix, I made a front firing Tempest. It really makes no difference in terms of quality. If you have little kids or pets, sometimes FF subs can be more easily damaged.

Bass goes everywhere as you'll soon find out after completeing the Tempest. Your floor will shake just as much with a down or front firing sub.
