Looks like they heard you:
Other Unreleased Tracks Include a Duet on “Silent Night” Between Diana Ross and Florence Ballard, and Diana/Mary Wilson Duet on “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)”
Connie Smith -that girl can flat out sing. Thanks for sharing the covers!
I'll pick up the Ames Brothers for sure...and maybe the Supremes CD (although I gotta be sure I won't be duplicating on stuff I might already have in the collection).
I know I've got the Ames Brothers LP...
Do you think I can get the CD with EXCLUSIVE duct tape packaging?!?
Beware the blunted needle!
Now I'm hoping that their 1957 album gets a reissue. My copy is a "Simulated Stereo" reissue of the original, without the original cover and 2 of the original 12 songs ("Sing a Song of Santa Claus" and "Winter's Here Again"). It's old-school devout, not my personal style, but it's all part of Christmas as far as I'm concerned. My taste in Christmas music and movies may be the most Catholic thing about me, but none of my friends religious or otherwise doubt my sincerity. There are some great Christmas reissues coming this year, but I'm most excited about the new Herb Alpert Christmas album (the TJB Christmas album is one-of-a-kind and one of my all-time favourites) and the rumour about a fourth Kate Rusby Christmas album. If you haven't heard Ms. Rusby's unique Yorkshire voice and sound, you have a treat in store like you won't believe.
Hmmmmmmm. Must investigate!
And hasn't the TJB Christmas album reissue been out a few years now?
This is a brand new Herb Alpert Christmas album, "The Christmas Wish". Isn't it thrilling?
Cover art, track listing, and title track (which might not work now) are all here: http://forum.amcorner.com/threads/herbs-2017-christmas-album.15906/
More good info!
Well, it isn't quite as great as the Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass Christmas Album, but what Christmas album is? Both albums end with a version of "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring", so I think Herb Alpert understood the challenge of replicating the artistic success of the 1968 album, and wanted to face it head on like the artist he is. Was I thrilled to get a new Herb Alpert Christmas album nearly 50 years after the first one, and was I delighted that it is lively and enjoyable? As you can see, I was.
Meant to say this earlier to you, a BIG THANKS DAVID for letting us know about the Herb Alpert release. I also purchased it and agree with your assessment, and glad to have it added to my Christmas playlist this year.
The Real Gone website says the Ames Brothers CD is.....SOLD OUT!!!
I didn't know 1.) that this particular CD would be THAT popular...and 2.) that Real Gone's products might sell out.
Anybody got any info on this? How many copies do they produce of each title? Maybe this is a great harbinger of how much of a market there is for product like this??
Amazon.com and Amazon.ca have copies. They're cheap, too.
YOU da man! Thanks, David. Didn't even think to check Amazon for the title.
And, I went to Amazon, listened to their sample of Ms. Rusby's first three Christmas albums and they are on their way to me this week!
I've also already picked up three new CDs this year (all at Target). Another expanded edition of a Pentatonix CD (last year's release "Christmas" with 5 new tracks), Gwen Stefani's new Christmas CD (Target's got an exclusive), and a Christmas CD by Fantasia (I really don't know anything about her singing...but am acting on faith that there's be something there I enjoy). The Fantasia CD at Target has two extra tracks.
Don't tell Peg. But I went a little nuts just now and ordered a bunch of Christmas music on Amazon. Besides the three Rusby discs...AND the Albert disc, too...I ordered the Ames Brothers (which started this whole thing tonight), and new discs by Reba McEntire and Cheap Trick.
Our secret, ok?
Christmas starts today at my house! Just opened up a box from Real Gone.
