I'm planning to have an exciting movie date with my partner at home. We both love Ghibli movies.. Almost all the movies are our fave so it's kind of difficult on my part to select at least two movies. Can you help me with this? Any recommendation would do.

Porco Rosso is my first choice, followed by Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away

Others that I like in no particular order:
My Neighbor Totoro
Nausicaa of the Valley of The Wind
Whisper of the Heart
Only Yesterday
(available through GKids)
The Cat Returns
Princess Mononoke

I haven't seen From Up on Poppy Hill yet but I have heard that it is a better effort from Miyazaki's son Goro than his debut film Tales from Earthsea.

I could go on but those are a good start and some of my faves. Really, of the Studio Ghibli films that I have seen, the only ones that I haven't really liked are Howl's Moving Castle and The Wind Rises.

Spirited Away is one of my favorites, though I also like Nausicaa a lot too.

My two favorites are Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke but really, ANY Miyazaki film is worth the time to watch.

Big furry things ! Totoro!

I need to look at Howl's again. Diana Wynn Jones wrote that. She did a short about a recording cleric following adventurous barbarians, etc around on a quest. A delight! I bought a few of her books I still need to read because of that short.

I also love Princess Mononoke. And yes, I agree that any Miyazaki film is worth it!! I'm excited to watch this movie with my partner.

I don’t think it’s a Ghibli film but Grave Of The Fireflies is my favorite anime film.

Edit: It IS a Ghibli film after all.
