I was just wondering if anyone knows of any good deals on a cheap, used subwoofer. I need one for my dorm until I can get a better place. I was thinking a used KLH or something. Anyone have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it, thanks.

    Brandon,

It all depends on your definition of cheap. [IMG]

Look in the Hardware for sale or trade section to find deals on used equipment from members.

I have a used Energy s8.2 sub for sale ($150 + shipping), but there are other subs available in that thread. Let me know if you're interested in the Energy.

    Dayton 10" from Parts Express

One of the best budget subwoofers. I know it's not used, but it's priced like it is. Don't let the low price fool you.

I came acrossed that Dayton when I was searching the forum, looks like a lot of people really like it.

By cheap I meant really cheap, like $75 or less. The KLH 10" 120W are about $100 new from costco, so I figured I might be able to get that used for a pretty low price.

However, I will probably just wait and get the Dayton.

if you get something too cheap, its sound quality isn't likely to actually be an improvement over whatever bass-lacking speakers you have now.

clunks and bangs from an overdriven sub tend not to sound as good as nothing at all.

What about that sony WA-something or another that, when modded, rivals some $300 subs?

Check out ubid dot com for the Jensen JS1000, 12 inch, 100 watt amp. I got one for a total price of $79 and change. It does the job for me nicely.
