Hey, I'm new to all this, and have no idea what anyone's talking about...anyway, for xmas I wanted to get my dad a set of small surround sound speakers that we could put in our 21x10 ft living room. Below $300, possibly around $200. We would use them mostly for watching movies, and also tv and stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions about what to get, and where to get it? (Something in a store would be best, as we only have about a week to buy it)

On your budget I'd recommend purchasing PC speakers, take a look at the Logitech Z-5500. $288 on Amazon (with free shipping)

Velodyne CHT's are a nice bet. $199 with free shipping for the set of 5 speakers. BTW, the greay color looks black in person. I have some on the way and have owned them before. Very nice speakers for the money. Sound great and very solid. You'd definitely need a sub. Dorian from the forum is selling one that would work great for $95. It's the Dayton sub. Free plug for him. :) I've had one of these before to, and for the money, it's hard to beat. That would get you speakers and a sub for $300 shipped. Hard to beat for the money. Couple that with a used HT receiver for around $100 and you'd have a knock out system for under $400. Later.
