Cheap projector mount (1 Viewer)

The title describes both me and my mission. I am appalled, even if not rightfully so, by the prices charged for a piece of metal with holes drilled in it. (OK, engineers, fire away).

Anyway, all I need is the plate to mount a given (not selected yet) projector to the ceiling (actually, a tray box, but same difference). I see there are some universal projector mounts coming from Omni-Mount which are slightly lower priced.

Was wondering if anyone has been in the same boat and made one of these in their shop, adapted something from Home Depot, etc. Failing that, what is the most economical place to shop for these things?

I made a one using the a modified version of the mount in the second link. It took me under an hour and cost less then $20 CA. Which saved me alot of money to spend on other things instead of a mount.

You can get projector mounts pretty cheap now days. Almost not worth making it yourself anymore. see:
