I took a trip to the local Best Buy this morning and noticed a stack of Polaroid DVR-1000 (going from memory) DVD players in front of the DVD section, priced at $49.95. It's not that I need one- I have a Sony and an Apex, but the box for the Polaroid states that it plays mp3s and displays jpeg files. It also play VCDs and a few other formats. Anyone have any experience using a DVD player to view jpegs? I'm assuming you can use a CD with images, but do you have to navigate to the various folders that might be on a CD?

I'm almost tempted to buy one just to see how well it works, but I don't really think I would use it much after the initial excitement wears off.

Which model Apex player do you have? Most of them will play cd's with JPEGs on them. Give it a try. On mine, it gives you a list of files and folders and you can navigate through or you can press Play for a slideshow.

I have the Apex AD-600A (the original one, I think). It will play mp3s, but I don't think it handles jpegs.

New model JVC and Panasonic DVD players display JPGs too. If it finds a directory with JPGs it displays them with a few second delay for each image.
