This release slipped under the radar, but last week an outfit called "Trinity Home Entertainment" released a bargain DVD of "Charlie Chan and the Curse of the Dragon Queen" starring Peter Ustinov.

Most Chan fans consider this to be an abomination and it isn't part of the series proper, but I mention this because it marks the second time a studio has released Charlie Chan product (MGM released the excellent Chanthology earlier this year) after Fox went on record as saying their Chan films would stay in the vault.

Who would have ever thought that "Dragon Queen" would have seen DVD release before the vastly superior (and much more marketable) films of Warner Oland and Sidney Toler?

Charlie Chan And The Dragon Queen is to the Charlie Chan series what Casino Royale is to the Bond series. A spoof, a comedy and never intended to be part of the series.

Nice misspelling of Angie Dickinson's name on the cover. Doesn't anyone have competent copy editors anymore? It just amazes me how many gaffes I see on packaging and in supposedly reputable publications these days.

welll Trinity videos releases of American Cinema titles are actually in a questionable state right now, as I am in touch with one of the American Cinema/Mar Vista persons who is in despute over ownership of these American Cinema titles so just a heads up, these might not stay on the shleves for very long.
