Yesterday morning I opened up my dryer to remove my clothes and realized I had just washed and dried a compact flash card I had in my pants pocket. After reading about the CF card that had survived an explosion, I was curious whether my card had survived a wash, an agressive 1000 RPM spin cycle and static electricity in the dryer chamber. It did! Maybe being in a plastic case helped, but I was still impressed.

Hilarious. I wouldn't use it to shoot my wedding though.

I heard about stoned-washed jeans, but this is getting ridiculous!

Yeah, my jeans have this weird pattern of 1s and 0s on them...

Well, as long as there's no dreaded moire artifacts imprinted on them... [IMG]

I forget where I read it, or who put these things to the test... but I read recently that someone subjected a CF card to the following:

    washer
    drier
    submersion in Coca Cola
    submersion in boiling water
    freezing
    piercing with a nail

The darn thing survived all but the last test with files intact...

    These things are pretty tough.
Of course, I wouldn't intentionally mistreat these things - but they stand up to a fair amount of abuse.
