any reason not to put a center channel speaker (klipsch) in a cabinet under the tv? this cabinet is designed to hold the center channel- it would be directly below the tv shelf and also have a removable grill cover.

No problem with that at all. Ideally wou want the sound to come from as close to the center of the screen as possible. Because you can only do that with a projection system with a perforated screen (center channel goes directly behind screen) we have to make compromises. Most frequently, the center is placed on top of the TV because its most convenient and closest to the center of the screen. Try angling the speaker up slightly to aim towards main listening area and keep the speaker pulled out as close as possible to being flush with the TV screen. Theoretically that keeps our brain from hearing a slight delay to the picture (I said theoretically).
